For years, I just wanted to become a better curler.
Every season, I set new goals. I showed up to camps, took courses, worked with coaches, and tried to do all the “right” things. Even as a teenager, I knew that strength and fitness mattered, but I didn’t always know what actually worked.
Over the last 20+ years, I’ve gone through it all: different programs, different approaches, injuries, rehab, education, certifications, and coaching. A lot of trial and error. And through it all, I kept coming back to the same thought:
This should be simpler!!!!
It took me a long time to figure out what really matters for curlers; what gives the most return for your time, which movements carry over to the ice, and how to make training realistic and sustainable.
Then the pandemic shifted things again, giving me a new appreciation for at-home training. And through pregnancy and postpartum, I experienced firsthand what it’s like to have very limited time and energy.
That completely changed how I approach everything.
A Guide I Wish I Had Years Ago
I’ve put together a simple, practical off-season guide for curlers, something I wish I had back then!
Inside, you’ll find:
- A few key things to focus on this off-season
- Exercises that support delivery, brushing, and cardio
- A free off-ice workout you can start right away
- Links to more resources if you want to go deeper
This isn’t meant to overwhelm you. It’s meant to give you a clear starting point.

If you want more structure, I’ve also included a link to my off-season training options. Whether it’s programs, education, or rehab support, there’s something tailored for you.
But honestly, my biggest goal is just to help more curlers get started.
More and more athletes are investing in off-ice training to improve their game, and I don’t want to gatekeep that.
Share the Knowledge
If you find this guide helpful:
- Share it with a teammate
- Send it to your curling group chat
- Pass it along to your club or league
Let’s make this the off-season where more curlers train smarter, not just harder.
Good luck in your remaining curling,
Coach Steph
